Auto repair, car servicing, Cars, Car accessories

If you have an issue with your car and need to take it in to a garage you may worry about managing without it. The best way to avoid long delays with car repairs is to ensure that it is booked in and dropped off first thing in the morning. Turning up unannounced may mean your car sits around for a while waiting for a ramp to become free. If you know exactly what repairs need to be done, you could ask if the garage will order the part in advance so it is there waiting for when your car is booked in. If it needs some investigation work then you may be able to take it in for them to find out what is wrong and then book it back in to have the repairs done once they have ordered the part and have a space available. Some main dealerships will be able to offer you a courtesy car but smaller garages often won’t. Try and book your car in for a time when you can manage without it for a few days. Even if the garage say that they should be able to get it turned around in a day it is worth having a back up plan as the wrong part may turn up or they may find more damage when they strip the vehicle down.

Be sure to ring the garage to chase up the repairs if you haven’t heard back from them and you were expecting too. Often smaller garages do not have a receptionist so the mechanics will be expected to call customers. If they get called on to another job your car may be ready, but they have not had a chance to call you to collect it.

Cylindrical roller bearings

In contrast to ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings use cylinders as the rolling part. This can help to distribute a load more evenly, as the roller will have more contact with the outer ring. They can be used to achieve high speeds and are most often used in engineering.

You can buy cylindrical roller bearings online, selecting anything from budget options upwards. Take note of the bore and its size so you know you are buying a bearing with the right dimensions. You should also know the inside diameter, outside diameter, width and whether the bearing should have a snap ring.
