When owning a car, there are certain maintenance that is essential in order to keep the car safe and running. Tyres are one of the major components of a vehicle and if they are damaged, under or over inflated or have little or no tread left on them, they can make the car very unsafe.
Another essential part of maintaining a car is to check your fluid levels, and that doesn’t just mean fuel! Usually your fluid levels will be checked on your vehicle when it goes in for a service and sometimes for other repairs, but you should not leave it this long to check the level of your oil, water, brake fluid etc. as you may use them quicker than you think or may develop a leak over time.
Levels can also go down more rapidly if the temperature is quite high or if you have been driving the car more so covering more miles. For this reason alone it makes sense to have a quick check every month. If you leave the levels to go too low in your car you can risk damaging the engine meaning that the car will be pretty much useless.
If you are not sure exactly where to check your different fluid levels or how to top them up then you can usually refer to the handbook which will show you a step by step guide. If you are still not confident then you will need to take the car in to a garage.
